Allergen & Dietary Notice
Please read this before ordering if you or anyone you are ordering for has a food allergy or intolerance.
At a glance
- Tell us about every allergy or intolerance when you order. Online, add it to the item note. If it is severe, also call us.
- Our kitchen uses peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, wheat, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, soy and sesame. Equipment, oil and prep areas are shared.
- The allergen codes on this website are being checked and are not yet complete. Fish sauce, wheat and gluten in noodles, bread and sauces, and molluscs such as squid and oyster sauce may not be shown.
- Unless a dish clearly says it is vegetarian, assume it contains meat, fish or seafood.
- If you have a serious reaction, call 000.
1. Before you order
- Read the dish description and ask us about the ingredients. Don't rely on the image or the allergen code alone.
- Online: add your allergy to the note on every item it applies to, for example “ALLERGY: peanut”.
- If your allergy is severe, or if you are unsure, call (03) 9467 2886 before you order. If we can't safely prepare a dish for you, we will tell you.
- When you collect your order, tell the staff about your allergy again and check the order before eating.
2. The allergens we tell you about
Australian food law requires food businesses to tell customers about the allergens listed below. For food that is not packaged, such as restaurant and takeaway meals, the information must be displayed or provided when a customer asks for it.
| Allergen | Where it is common in Vietnamese and Asian cooking | Code on this website |
|---|---|---|
| Peanut | Crushed peanut topping, satay and peanut dipping sauces | P |
| Tree nuts: almond, Brazil nut, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, pine nut, pistachio, walnut | Cashew stir-fries, nut toppings, some sauces and desserts | N |
| Milk | Condensed milk in coffee, salted cream, butter | M |
| Egg | Egg noodles, fried rice, batter, pâté, mayonnaise | E |
| Wheat and gluten | Egg noodles, bread rolls, wonton wrappers, batter, soy, hoisin and oyster sauces | W |
| Barley, oats, rye (gluten) | Some sauces and seasonings | not yet coded |
| Fish | Fish sauce (nước mắm), which is used widely in dipping sauces, marinades, dressings and broths | F |
| Crustacean | Prawns, shrimp paste, dried shrimp | CS |
| Mollusc | Squid/calamari, oyster sauce | not yet coded |
| Soy | Soy sauce, tofu, hoisin sauce | S |
| Sesame | Sesame oil, sesame seeds | SS |
| Lupin | Some flours and bakery products | not yet coded |
| Sulphites (when added at 10 mg/kg or more) | Some pickles, dried foods, sauces and drinks | not yet coded |
The middle column lists common sources in this style of cooking. It is not a list of the ingredients in any particular dish. Ask us about a specific dish.
3. About the codes and filters on this website
- The codes shown on each dish come from our recipe information. Our kitchen is still checking them and they are not yet complete. In particular, they may not show fish sauce, wheat and gluten in noodles, bread and sauces, molluscs such as squid and oyster sauce, or sulphites.
- The “leave out dishes with” filter uses the same codes. It is a browsing aid, not an allergy check. A dish that stays visible may still contain or have touched the allergen.
- Recipes and suppliers can change. The information we give you on the day takes priority over the website.
4. Cross-contact in our kitchen
Our kitchen uses shared woks, fryers and frying oil, utensils, chopping boards, prep benches and packing areas. Garnishes such as crushed peanuts, fried shallots, herbs and sauces are prepared in the same space. Even when we leave an ingredient out, traces may still be present.
5. Vegetarian, vegan and other diets
- Our kitchen is not vegetarian. Unless a dish clearly says it is vegetarian, assume it contains meat, fish or seafood. Fish sauce and meat-based stocks are common in Vietnamese cooking.
- Vegetable and Tofu Pho (211) comes with a vegetarian broth by default, and you can choose meat broth instead at the same price. Its other components, such as sauces and garnishes, may still contain fish or other animal products, so please tell us if you need it fully vegetarian or vegan.
- We don't describe any dish as vegan, gluten-free or allergen-free.
- For halal, kosher or other religious requirements, please ask us. Don't assume a dish meets a requirement unless a certificate is displayed in store.
- The chilli symbol is a guide only. Spice levels vary. Ask us if you would like less chilli.
6. If you have a reaction
If someone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or collapses, call 000 immediately and follow their anaphylaxis action plan. When it is safe to do so, please let us know on (03) 9467 2886 so that we can investigate.
